QED Construction Limited was formed in 2002 by Ian Ashton and Paul Turner. From its head office, near Preston in Lancashire, QED provides civil engineering and groundworks services throughout the Northwest and across the UK.
The team supports many of the UK’s leading construction companies – and has developed a reputation for high quality workmanship that’s delivered on time and to budget. Whatever it takes, we get the job done.
Ian graduated from Leeds Polytechnic (now Leeds Beckett University) in 1986. His first role was working as a Private Practice Quantity Surveyor in London for four years. He returned to the Northwest to work for a local civil engineering company, before forming QED with Paul.
After graduating in 1985, Paul left Liverpool Polytechnic (now Liverpool John Moores University) and started his career as a Quantity Surveyor with BDP Ltd. He then went on to work for a number of civil engineering companies across the Northwest. He met and worked alongside Ian at his last employer.
John started his career as a bench joiner and has held numerous construction roles over the years, gaining a wide breadth of site experience and management. He joined QED in 2008 and went on to obtain his NEBOSH qualification before taking up his position as Health & Safety Officer.
After attending Wigan College, Alex began his career in construction as an engineer for SEP Ltd in Skelmersdale. He’s since worked on numerous prestigious projects in Manchester and throughout the Northwest. He joined QED in 2017 as a Site Manager and is now Contracts Manager for the business.
Paul joined QED from RG Construction with over 30 years’ experience in groundworks. Paul has successfully delivered distribution centres, superstores, city centre schemes and a major expansion of the Cheshire Oaks retail park.
Wayne started his career as a site engineer with extensive knowledge of steel frame structures. Since joining QED 18 years ago, he has successfully delivered numerous superstores, distribution centres, factories, and university projects.
QED employs a team of Site Managers and Engineers as well as a wide range of experienced specialists, including Plant Operatives, Joiners, Groundworkers, and Drainage and Paving Operatives. The majority of our employees have worked with us for 15 years or more, and we’re proud of the well-rounded, skilled, and professional team we’ve developed.
