This £115 Million scheme for Manchester Metropolitan University to build a new 14000 sq metre seven storey building along with the refurbishment of the existing John Dalton Tower is the largest construction project ever undertaken by the university with new build and refurbishment taking part simultaneously.  The new Science and Engineering facility is an investment into STEM education and research that will transform the way students are taught.

Appointed to undertake the groundworks and drainage for this project, QED have completed the installation of the pile caps and core foundations, we have excavated and cast the new brickstore basement facility and installed the new drainage system including two tunnel excavations to connect the drainage into the busy Chester Street UU system. Carrying out the extensive waterproofing of the ground floor and casting the reinforced concrete slab including a complex tying into the existing John Dalton tower substructure. Future planned works for the extensive hard landscaping is due to be undertaken in late 2023.
